A Storm Before Skiing

I woke this morning to howling winds. It wasn't abrupt or anything: the noise had kept me in a state of half-sleep for hours. By the time my alarm went off, my eyes were heavy and closed, but I lay there nearly awake. This marks the second night in a row I failed to get a full nights sleep – the first was because of my dysfunctional sleep schedule – and the tiredness is dragging on me. I hope to get a good nights sleep tonight, but it's 21:00 and the wind still hasn't let up, so I don't have high hopes.

In the afternoon, rain joined the cold wind. While I'm not happy with the latter, it's the first day this year that we've had more than a light drizzle which should be good for the plants. It's been a snowy spring so far, so they really need it.

I was planning to go skiing this Saturday, the last weekend the mountain is open (the ski hill starts halfway up the mountain). Despite living within an hour of multiple ski mountains, I haven't had a chance to go skiing with anyone in a few years, so I was excited to get out there. Now, though, I worry what this storm means for the weekend. I was hoping to get up early and enjoy some (relatively) warm weather skiing, although it seems that neither of these will go to plan. I worry that I'll end up tired and cold on the hill, which will bring down the excitement. I guess we'll see.

[Edit: I'm so sorry if this was a mess. I was exhausted when I wrote it last night. You'll be glad (?) to know that I did not get a good nights sleep last night—as predicted—but as I am writing this (around lunch time) the gusts of wind are more sporadic and there is partial sun peeking through the clouds. It is still chilly, but it bodes well for tomorrow.]
