Age and maturity

I had a significant birthday last week, one of those that ends with a zero.

There's a tendency to not look forward to these milestones and indeed I wasn't excited at the prospect. But it's all been great, I have a wonderful family and some good friends. I didn't remind anyone of the date so if someone didn't know, that was OK too.

I remember when my dad had the same birthday. He's always seemed so much more mature than I am, so I asked him about that. Apparently I'm wrong, it's just a matter of perspective. I'm sure as my son grows older and becomes an adult he'll see me in the same way I see my dad (or I hope so).

My treat to myself was to take the day off work and go for a (relatively) long run in the Chilterns. The weather was glorious; not a cloud in the sky and some fantastic views. Trashed my hamstrings and several days later I still can't run again! Wouldn't do it any differently the next time.
