The fires in Buffalo have been diminishing due to the recent snow. This has really cleared up the heavy smoke conditions over the course of the last week, just in time for the comet!
Stunning and memorable observation! I have never seen a comet before.
I had prepared my field atlas with a sticky note of where the comet should be but I didn't even have to use it. I was surpised to find how easily the tail was seen with just the naked eye. The comet was beautifully seen from my eyes, from the finder-scope, and through the telescope at 55x. All three methods had a different quality to them, and I probably spent equal time observing with all three.
I had to call the wife and kids out to see this one.
Thanks to Chris for pointing this target out for me, this one's for you!
