Today I downloaded Duolingo. Last time I tried this was to learn Portuguese, I worked for a short time in Brazil and since Spanish is already so close to it, I picked up quite a few words and stuff. I was "determined" to take classes once I was back in Argentina but I very clearly didn't :)
About a year ago I tried Duolingo to start Portuguese again, I can't quite recall why I dropped it, maybe I just lost interest. Or, maybe I stopped having so much time in my hands for such an activity. What's happening now is that I am in between projects at work, and maybe even between jobs (lots of uncertainty) so the challenge is to keep Duolingo-ing even if work picks back up. The same goes for this gemlog, BTW.
So I decided this time to learn (drum roll) Esperanto. I have been curious about it for a long time, allegedly it helps you learn other languages too. Only downside is that it isn't something "immediately useful" like learning Portuguese (or French, German, etc.).

I have posted three days in a row, even if I didn't have any clear idea of what to write about each morning/afternoon. I don't expect to keep up this pace, yet I see the cadence as a good sign of how easy it is to push new content by doing it all inside Emacs and with just a couple quick commands. So, yay!
