According to wikipedia, ant mills are what happens when a group of ants lose track of their colony. They follow one another in a circle until they die from exhaustion.
(link description: hundreds of ants are running counter-clockwise in a circle. A pile of ants in the center are not running)
Once a pheromone trail forms a circle, ants have a hard time breaking out of it.
Humans are stuck in a similar situation. Humanity's current economic and political activity is causing a mass extinction that, if allowed to continue, will end up killing (potentially all of) us.
Markets treat money in a similar way to how ants treat pheromones, determining what activities get done and how people do them. The fact that capitalism turns money into "allowed to survive paper" means that people can't deviate from current economic and political activity (i.e. our "pheromone trail") on a sufficiently large scale to stop destroying the planet and ultimately ourselves.
