Guru Guru is one of the best comedy anime and it was the AOTY 2017 IMO.
And probably the 1994 version is even better.
It's very funny. Give it a try.

I tried, but it didn't do it for me. Admittedly I accidentally obtained a version without subtitles, and I know almost no japanese, so I was unlikely to get the jokes... but I could tell from the style that I would find it annoying rather than funny. Sorry. The only anime I've managed to actually enjoy (as a guilty pleasure, I wouldn't claim it's actually worth watching) is Shingeki no Kyojin -- any recs along those lines?
