I love to take notes when I read. Sometimes I get good quotes. Sometimes I link what I read to other things I've read in the past. I enjoy doing that from a text editor (emacs, in my case) and to make things simpler, I like to have a plain-text version of the article I'm reading to make editing/copying easier. Unfortunately, it gets incredibly hard to access the text when reading on the web. Javascript needs to be enabled, parts of the page are dynamically constructed when it loads, HTML structure is nested to the point where extracting anything meaningful is challenging.
If anyone knows of a proxy I could give a web URL to and receive a simple .txt version back of the article, please let me know! Otherwise, I might be tempted to create one. Maybe a gopher service?
Alright, that was my rant for today!
