SPECIAL WEATHER STATEMENT NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE LOUISVILLE KY 358 PM EST WED DEC 10 2008 ..FREEZING RAIN POSSIBLE TONIGHT... AN AREA OF LOW PRESSURE DEVELOPING IN THE GULF OF MEXICO WILL TRACK NORTHEAST INTO EASTERN TENNESSEE BY THURSDAY EVENING. MOISTURE WILL STREAM NORTH AHEAD OF THIS SYSTEM...ENTERING THE SOUTHERN PORTION OF CENTRAL KENTUCKY AFTER MIDNIGHT AND SPREADING NORTH AND WEST OVERNIGHT. INITIALLY RAIN IS EXPECTED WITH THE POSSIBILITY OF FREEZING RAIN IF SURFACE TEMPERATURES DROP BELOW THE FREEZING MARK. AT THE PRESENT IT LOOKS AS IF READINGS WILL REMAIN ABOVE THE FREEZING MARK WHICH WOULD PRODUCE MOSTLY RAIN. HOWEVER IF THE TEMPERATURES WERE TO DROP ANOTHER DEGREE OR 2 FREEZING RAIN WOULD OCCUR. THE RAIN AND POSSIBLE FREEZING RAIN WILL CHANGE TO LIGHT SNOW THURSDAY AFTERNOON BEFORE THE PRECIPITATION ENDS AND COLDER AIR SINKS INTO THE REGION.
