Weather Updates
===================================
With a mix of clouds and sunshine in the area we saw a fairly nice
Wednesday across Central and Eastern Kentucky with afternoon highs
topping out in the mid and upper 70s. The late week has the
potential to be quite stormy as a powerhouse fall storm system gets
cranked up in the Central Plains and moves eastward. A strong area
of low pressure will head toward the Great Lakes Thursday as the
trailing cold front moves our way. Ahead of this system plenty of
warm moist air will stream northward from the Gulf of Mexico. With
all these ingredients coming together, showers and storms are a
good possibility heading into the day on Thursday. It appears we
could see 2 separate rounds. One during the morning hours, then a
break in the action during late morning/ early afternoon followed
by more storms into the late afternoon and evening. Any of the
storms that do develop have the potential to create some damaging
winds and late tomorrow the wind fields may be conducive for a few
isolated tornadoes with much of Central and Eastern Kentucky under
a slight risk for severe weather. It will be quite windy for the
late week, even away from storms with gusts over 30 miles per hour.
Storms should continue as the front rolls through early Friday with
all the activity winding down on Friday. The weekend looks dry and
a bit warmer, but the next storm system should arrive by Monday
bringing some cooler changes next week...TG
