Pedestrian killed in Co. Mayo traffic collision

in Co. Mayo on Thursday evening.

Gardaí and emergency services responded to a collision involving a car and

a pedestrian on Main Street, Ballinrobe at approximately 6:30pm on

Thursday.

The pedestrian, a man in his 60s, was pronounced deceased at the scene a

short time later.

His body has been removed to Mayo General Hospital for post-mortem

examination.

The scene is preserved for technical examination. The road is currently

closed with local diversions in place.

A man in his 30’s was arrested in connection with the incident and has

since been released without charge.

Gardaí are appealing for any witnesses to this collision to come forward.

Any road users who may have camera footage (including dash-cam) and were

travelling in the area between 6pm and 7pm are asked to make this footage

available to investigating Gardaí.
