A woman in her 50s who was hospitalised following a serious assault in
Ballinasloe earlier this week has passed away.
The woman was brought to hospital in critical condition after an incident
at 7pm on Monday evening.
After receiving treatment at Portiuncula Hospital this week, the woman has
since passed away.
The local coroner has been notified. A post mortem examination will take
place in due course.
A man in his 50s appeared before Ballinasloe District Court on Thursday
charged in connection with this incident.
Investigating Gardaí are appealing to anyone who may have any information
on this incident to come forward.
