A tractor run in memory of the late Max Boggs will take place in
Eglinton on Saturday, December 21 with proceeds going directly towards
Air Ambulance.
Max was only 18 years-old when he was killed in a tragic car accident
in Australia during the summer of 2022.
The tractor run will be meeting at Gorthill Farm in Eglinton for 5pm
with the run leaving at 7pm.
There will also be a small children’s run in the yard at 6pm.
There is a cost of £20 per vehicle. This includes a meal for the
driver.
Drinks, hot food and refreshments will be available for guests.
Max’s father Ryan Boggs explained how the idea for the tractor run came
about.
He said: “Max would have been turning 21 on 16th of December. His
birthday coming up brings back memories of his tragic passing to the
forefront of our minds again. He had a real love of farming and farmed
at home but wanted to experience it another way so he went out to
Australia. He was only there three weeks when the accident happened. He
was killed on a weekend and little did we know he had booked flights
home to surprise us for the following Tuesday. Max lived life well and
to the full, he had a good, short life. At the same time it is tough
and we all miss him. I know he will be forever young but it is
bittersweet not to see him grow old.”
Ryan continued: “We decided on donating the money to the Air Ambulance
as they are often connected with farming and we come from that rural
farming background. Max had a strong love of farming and this
fundraising and tractor run is a way for us to honour that. It is a
chance for a get together for those who loved Max. The whole thing is
all about family and keeping loved ones close. At the time Max was
killed we also collected money for the Kevin Bell Repatriation Trust.
However, this time we felt we wanted something a bit more closer to
home. Even if you haven’t got a tractor, people are more than welcome
if they want to bring their children along to see them, or bring their
toy tractors and let them drive around the farm.”
