I sipped my coffee. Laura came up behind me, "Father, what's that?"

Toothbrush in mouth, my wife approaches and chimes "Eww that is revolting, what is that?"

"Is it a vegetable?", Laura took a guess.

To me, it resembled insect leg segments but the size of carrots. Alive.

"It appears almost paper-like", I took a jab.

We stood there in silence, mesmerized, attempting to decipher what this anomaly was, until it was time to leave.

No smell, nothing on the vents, and no earthly way this thing got in. "I'll have a word with the landlord today."
