Mi Video Terrible Update

I use a Xiaomi (Pocophone) Android phone, and I typically update everything whenever the device prompts me to. I've never had any bad experiences, but... Over the past few days, I noticed a drastic change in how I watch my own videos on the phone. I tapped on a video thumbnail, expecting it to play within the browsing app, but instead, the OS redirected me to a TikTok-like generic app. What on earth was that?!

I checked the settings, and everything seemed fine. So, what was the issue? It turns out it was an update to the app I was using before, "Mi Video"—and it's awful, fundamentally flawed. Xiaomi, what makes you think that when I want to watch my own recordings, I’d be interested in random videos from strangers? I'm trying to watch a video of my baby sleeping, and you show me irrelevant and gross "social media content" right afterward?

Fortunately, everything was resolved by simply uninstalling the updates, but... I am never updating this phone again. I guess it's time to dive into the Android ROM rabbit hole.
