So I brewed some kilju, just sugar and brewing yeast. Cold crashed. 2€. 5L of about 15-17% booze. I am literally never buying alcohol again. This stuff... and this is slightly contentious, tastes essentially like cheap japanese sake. I have solved half my monthly budget.

Can highly recommend home brewing. My foolproof recipe: heat 1 litre of fruit juice (apple, grape, anything you like) to 60 deg, add about 1.1kg of sugar, a teaspoon of lemon juice and a pinch of epsom salt. Then toss into a sterilised sealable container and top up with 5 litre of water. Attach an airlock and let it brew for 2 weeks or more (the longer, the drier the result). · 1 week ago
