Christmas

~ofresco

Christmas is right around the corner and I for one am really excited! I love this time of the year and spend time with my friends and family, i'm really in a holly jolly mood right now. The only thing I don't like is the weather, everyday looks so gray and ugly so I hope they change that sometime soon...

Very very glad for you. It's one of my favourite times of year as well. :)

Holidays are odd things — people talk about a /feeling/ they get for specific times, a mood, one that may not even be connected to anything, just a free-floating idea. Almost like a genre of day.

Abstractly, I've only looked at them as an opportunity to spend time with your loved ones — nothing only about it, but it is specific — but I feel the 'genre of day' /too,/ which is... a bit odd. Like the /idea/ of, say, Christmas is /alive/ and influences people independently of anyone considering it. But maybe that's just all ideas

I don't find much joy round this part of the year. The weather sucks and I get sick. This season is only enjoyable if you are inside a warm home with a blanket all the time and even then you can still get sick.

My favourite time of the year, too. I can hole up inside without any guilt.

I guess all the decorations and lights came about _because_ the weather is so crappy. Lock the doors, turn on the lights, grab a blanket and a hot drink and hunker down. Humans need to hibernate too! :)

Glad you love Christmas! I'm actually quite indifferent to it, but your post has really raised my mood, so thank-you for that! Maybe I will learn to love it one day...

I'm not sure who you need to get in touch with about the weather... there must be a contact form somewhere...
