2023-08-15: Hidden Nexus

I'm working on a really interesting gemini project.

I fixed the gemini server software bug that prevented newlines from being in encoded query strings. This inspired me to take what I learned from gemchan, making a CGI application using a DB to keep track of and streamline the user experience. Then I used that to build and abstract the complicated parts.

I started work on a new project completely from scratch, refreshing myself from the gemini protocol website [1]. It's a social network capsule, with simple registration, and advanced features. I'm genuinely hoping to create a place to let people talk about whatever they want and find more people in the gemspace.

It's getting very close to being public. The website is currently up here

hidden.nexus

But it's not going to let anyone but a whitelisted few in, as I'm still working on it.

I'm hoping to get it up before the weekend, and progress is looking more than good for that.

Life has been going really good for me, and I realize I just barely missed the one year anniverary of my capsule. I'm going to make a retrospective post maybe, but I don't think I have too much to say.

I'm glad that I haven't given up on gemini, and neither has the community from the looks of it. It's niche, it's a small community, but there's some really cool people here.

I'm excited to get Hidden Nexus up and running soon, and I hope it does become that said nexus for community and collaboration.
