Agreed that it is difficult to find the desired quality anymore. Unless you're willing to pay a hefty price, most commercially available ones are of very poor quality. The best board I ever played on was a lovely homemade one that just used some painted nails as pegs. It was great. I suppose it is kind of funny to care, considering that the board is literally a score board and the game could be played just as easily with pen and paper or tallying on your phone or what not, and yet, I absolutely do care, and I think most serious crib players do as well.
Four matches always… two with the heads bitten off!
My father (who I’d always play with) was given some fancy carved ones for a birthday once but we never used them ‘cos they felt a bit twatty.
