I loved the movie Nomadland[1]. It seems to capture a beauty and tragedy of vandwelling, which I have never done myself. There's a clear upside to "opting out", most poignant when Swankie recounts her experiences kayaking. But there's obvious difficulties too.

The protagonist's fixations on memories feels so human to me. She's self-conscious about her desire to live in memories, even though she's out on the road ostensibly living more than most.
