Hopefully it is clear that separation of Church and State is about separating the State from the Church, not separating religious values from the State. Why? Because atheists, agnostics, and the religious can all share similar values.

is anyone calling for this? because like clearly most laws of a country are likely influenced by their culture, of which religion will have been a big part. it's not even really a matter of whether this is good or bad, it just is like that. i don't see much of a problem with it either, unless religion is used to justify the removal of rights in the modern day. like regardless of what religiom influenced the law, religious freedom should be part of it. and new laws should be made based on hard facts rather than religious feelings · 5 months ago
If these values are common to atheists and so on, then in what sense are they religious? · 5 months ago
nope, they aren't in my opinion. i do not have anything in common with people who believe in ghosts. they should go to a hospital. religion is the greatest bs humanity ever invented. · 5 months ago
Perhaps it's still not clear to people, so let me rephrase it yet again: Disestablishmentarianism, and Separation of Church and State is about not having the state dictate religious theology and dogma, and is about separating matters of the Church from matters of the State.
This does not mean the State cannot make use of ethical systems that are related to religion. In fact, all of them DO make use of ethical systems related to religions. Why do you think all religions share a common set of rules? Because religious issues *are human issues*. They are one and the same. · 5 months ago
