Hi self, welcome to Gemini.

Starting a little journey into the small internet. I love the DIY feel and early-web aesthetics, curious to see what there is here beyond aesthetics though. I also think, as a pretty non-technical person, the idea of our computers requiring a higher level of computer literacy than we're used to is very interesting. So much is hidden under the rug with big web, I feel like there is some utility in having to work to use this protocol when it comes to inspiring awe if nothing else. (I know, I'm using big web to post this, I'm doing the best I can in this moment.) Hoping to explore how this instigates community, how that community is different from what HTTP web creates (or destroys,) and what that means for a tech-centric society.

Hoping to play around on here, maybe figure out how hosting your own capsule works, make a friend or two? Speaking of, if anyone could tell me how direct-messaging or whatever we're using for that functionality on here works, that'd be much appreciated. I don't know how you would send that info to me or how I would be expected to read it, but feel free to send it regardless :)
