There is still a physical lock of sorts - the exact mechanism depends on the device. The MrChromebox website does a really good job of explaining it. I feel like its ok to change the locks when I move into a place. I was optimizing for low price, new cpu (not fast cpu) and new battery. ยท 9 months ago
Interesting stuff! Do the newer Chromebooks still have a physical lock on the BIOS?
In case you don't know what I'm talking about, in order to install bare metal Linux on my ancient Chromebook, I had to open it up and turn a physical screw which was labeled on the board as "BIOS LOCK" or some such. Google was really an "innovator" back in those days... ยท 9 months ago
