A friend of ours is preparing to move out of an apartment into a house. His Internet connection will be shut off at the apartment tomorrow, but the connection at his house will not be activated until this Thursday. He works remotely, so in the interim we've offered for him to stay at our house and work from here.
Since the start of the pandemic, we've only had a handful of visitors at our house, and we haven't had anyone stay the night. Indeed, in the year and a half that my wife and I have lived here, we've only hosted one guest overnight.
I'm not nervous about him staying over; I know his hygiene habits and his daily routines, and it is very unlikely he will expose us to anything. In fact, I'm rather excited that we will finally be hosting someone again. It's one more tiny step along the path back to normalcy. I don't want masks and distancing and perpetual lockdowns to be the norm. I want to socialize and be around people, in real life.
The only dread I feel is that much of the house isn't very clean. I need to get to work tonight.
