Growth Harmonics

my coffee it feeds carbon
to the structure of the sky
which hungry reassures me
that the world will not die
that the changes long in coming
will rampage down the line
though me and mine will founder
the sky will be just fine

so the fear of youth in winter
by splitting of the atom
saves itself by stoking
forever at the boiler
laying all upon the altar
of that most delightful thing
self-pleasing in all measure
while my coffee here I treasure
