Persistence

first thing to learn is running
presuming the meat is able
bring that to the table and it ��s a step up to the step down
hard sprint to break free
rolling down stride, making the free stick
playing persistence predation from the opposite end

second thing to learn is diplomacy
not the one you want, nobody here by that name
sure, I know the name, but they buggered off ages ago
sure, it ��s more complicated than that
but at the cusp, communication saves what running can ��t

third thing to learn is breaking
first to break free, prevent the follow
but also to simply break, if the follow is equally persistent
such that there ��s no pause, no flinch, and diplomacy here
is neutral face or gentle smile  �� breaking what hunts you
may be necessary, but there ��s no reason to be impolite

fourth thing is also the first
prediction, recognition of flow
not being where the hunter goes, drawing no notice
presenting de-escalations at remove
in nobody ��s groove

no run
no talk
no break
no ruin

hardest and worst, face within face within face
instructions always running like this, presuming
rage and violence or brutal self-silence
and sixteen dozen seminars on, wonder
how not a one mentions joy in self, in living
