I went down the path of hard determinism before. It's a dangerous path. I haven't went so far as to reject all authority and all social conventions, because that's an even darker path that eventually leads to authoritarianism.

Social Justice issues are religious issues. Morality, ethics, mercy, love - they are all religious issues. They all come out of religion. A State with no attachments to anything remotely related to religion is a state without justice, a state without morality and ethics, a state without mercy and love.

Separation of Church and State is not disconnecting all religious issues from the state, it's about disconnecting religious DOGMA from the State. There's a difference (@willowf)

I know @clseibold has left the building, but I've gotta say... I'm not sure what so many seem to have against determinism. To me, its veracity seems pretty obvious and also pretty irrelevant in practical terms. Maybe I'll write down my thoughts on it sometime. ยท 4 months ago

Rejecting all authority... leads to authoritarianism. Very coherent! ยท 4 months ago
