Cancellation Won

I believe when first I found you, there was rhythm in your eyes
white noise precisely syncopated, no true white, white inside
and close beside you most would hear of dissonance
my cadence led me closer, a key matched time for time
like cancellation of a sine, complex within extremity
and touched we found our silence, precision to the aura

I believe when you first found me, there was shuffle to my skin
a ripple to the muscle where the other sounds had been
and close beside me most would hear of tragedy
your cadence led you closer, a key matched time for time
like history awash in the mainline, layers subcutaneous
and touched we found our present, lever to the moment

and away again, all I hear is white noise, truest white
and tragedy most muscular pushes all aside
and close beside us most would hear of cadence
our temperance just waiting, breathing of the cost
like stepping outside of the quiet, withered in the storm
still waiting, hungry from the distance, present quiet shorn
