I don't believe that I've seen your face
but the puck of your lips and eyes is dear
blood of the old blood on your hands
chorus of a landless savage
swilling in your veins -

the cast of your blade like a manticore
and you to woo I'd come ashore
traveled up to the hungry shore
but found the battle joined

my father's men claimed you harlot born
taken with the killing words
and taken with you, words or no
I cast my lot beside your sword
yea, battle joined, renewed -

wooing by the blade I know
a joke amongst the farmers here
but who's life better to approach
than one which backs your own

for no life here can be reproached
delicate flower or strung to the yoke
better a friend to the back and front
than one who dies, both back and front
thus begins the story
