I wonder if it might be feasible to share my webcomic on Gemini (gemcomic?). Gemini doesn't seem like the ideal place to share artwork, but unlike Gopher images can at least be accessed in-client. I've seen Gramfel, but not any others. I might try and see what I can do.

@breakfast_champion Make sure you put it in preformatted ticks. Should have three grave marks on the first and last line. Otherwise it renders a mess. 路 2 months ago
@istvan I tried posting a grayscale ASCII image and Lagrange didn't render it nicely. However, I may not be using the latest version of Lagrange, and as you mention, it may be restricted to 256 colors. 路 2 months ago
I'd check it out. Lagrange would work for in-line images. I use a terminal client though, so I'd have to "click" the links. It'd be neat to see an ANSI webcomic someday, done in codeblock art. 路 2 months ago
@breakfast_champion Lagrange does exceptionally well at ANSI art, even in 256 colors, and it is available on most platforms. Skyjake is a wizard. 路 2 months ago
There are people sharing photos over Gemini. It won't be displayed in the same gemtext document for most people but clicking on the linked image will open it up no problem. So, go for it. 路 2 months ago
If you mean hosting existing comics, you can publish images which are visible in Lagrange, a popular gemini browser.
If you mean posting new creative comics, you can try your hand at ASCII art.
Be aware there's a fundamental distinction between graphical and terminal clients. Graphical clients can't (easily and not yet) present ANSI-coded text art. Terminals, on the other hand, can't (easily, and not yet as far as I know, except Ploum's OffPuink, which is niche) present images in jpg, gif, or png format. ASCII plays nice on both, but isn't as rich a toolkit.
One option is to create for terminal and take screenshots for presentation in graphical browsers. 路 2 months ago
I'm sucker for comics!
Gemtex is not designed for comics but I suggest using correct format for comics, instead of trying to bend Gemtext to something it will not work. Just add link to PNG or CBZ inside short author commentary if desired. It will dowload and open in default app. 路 2 months ago
I'm all for it!
Gemini doesn't allow images as decorations 鈥斅爐hat's why it might seem that all content is just text, but if images are the content themselves 鈥斅爊o problem with that.
Yes, Lagrange displays images right on the page and in other clients, even TUI ones, the picture is a press of a button away 鈥斅爏o why not? Go for it! 路 2 months ago
