I drink too much coffee. Any time I pass coffee machine I get a double cup. Maybe 5 or 6 doubles through the day until evening.
I will try to take a break from coffee for 2 weeks starting today.
Will see what happens.
I went cold turkey on coffee last year for anxiety reasons. The headache was incredible. Only somewhat recently have I been able to start drinking it regularly again. How I missed you, dear coffee.
i am torn. on one hand i believe that coffee becomes a crutch very quickly - the stimulant effect is just you returning to baseline. on the other hand it's just so tasty and the modern world requires stimulants to function.
you wouldn't need coffee if you were a farmer. you will probably need it or an alternative if you're another cog in the machine like we all are

Don't try to go cold turkey from that level of coffee consumption, unless you're fine with severe headaches that no painkiller can treat and an inability to get out of bed. Buy 100mg caffeine pills so you can accurately control your caffeine dosage. Start the day with 100 to 200 mg, then later take 100mg only if you are having acute withdrawal symptoms (such as a vascular headache or severe anxiety). You should be able to get down to 100mg/day fairly quickly (a week or less?), after which you can either go cold turkey, or have one cup of black or green tea a day as needed.
This is not, technically medical advice, ask your primary care provider. This is just personal advice reflecting my personal experience.
