Existing technology should be brought to bear on speeding motorists,
according to a Kildare politician.
Newbridge councillor Noel Heavey said there is a rise in the number of
vehicles using the roads and a “perceived increase in accidents due to
reckless speeding on our roads.”

He asked Kildare County Council to request the Joint Policing
Committee, a forum with representatives of the KCC, the gardaí and
councillors, to examine how technology can be used to tackle speeding.
But KCC official Marian Higgins said this is a matter for the gardaí.
She also said the enforcement of speed limits is the responsibility of
the gardaí.
