Expect a feast for the senses at the Foyle Maritime Festival as some of
the finest local food producers and chefs showcase their skills in the
LegenDerry Food Village.
LegenDerry Food has become synonymous with culinary excellence and the
village brings together some of the most popular names in the local
hospitality industry for a four-day epicurean extravaganza. There will
be an international array of flavours, from smoky slow cooked US
barbeque to mouth-watering South African street food, with a local
twist, offering something to suit every palate.

All the food and drink products featuring will be authentic, homegrown,
fresh and seasonal, with local provenance central to the experience, as
Tourism Manager with Derry City and Strabane District Council, Jennifer
O’Donnell explained. “We are delighted to open the LegenDerry Food
Village for four days from 12noon at the Maritime Festival.
"It will offer visitors the chance to experience our dynamic local food
scene, showcasing the latest in exciting street food dishes and the
finest quality locally sourced produce such as Lough Foyle oysters and
mussels.
“We plan to create a really chilled outdoor festival environment, with
DJ sets throughout the weekend, it will be the perfect place to meet up
with friends and enjoy the riverfront festival vibe.”
LegenDerry Food has become an umbrella for local hospitality businesses
keen to grow and develop the industry and the City’s profile as an
exciting food destination. As a network, local partners work together
to market and promote the local offering, and make the most of
opportunities presented by local festivals and events to create unique
food experiences.
Looking ahead to the event, Co-chair of the LegenDerry Food Network,
Emily McCorkell of Lo & Slo, said: “We all know these are challenging
times for the local hospitality industry. Events like the Foyle
Maritime Festival provide a platform to engage with new customers, and
highlight the wonderful talent that is driving the food industry here
in the North West.
“As a business community we need to work together to maximise the
potential of our festivals and events, and create the best experience
for our visitors to ensure they keep returning. The LegenDerry Food
Village will feature a fantastic array of local and international
cuisine, and the chance to soak up the atmosphere while enjoying the
very best local hospitality.”
The Foyle Maritime Festival is delivered by Derry City and Strabane
District Council in partnership with key stakeholders Foyle Port and
Loughs Agency and supported by a range of funders including TNI, Diageo
and Ulster University.

The LegenDerry Food Village will be open at the Foyle Maritime Festival
on the following times: Thursday, 27th June - 12noon - 10pm; Friday,
28th June - 12noon - 10pm; Saturday, 29th June - 12noon - 2midnight –
Festival Showcase Night; Sunday, 30th June - 12noon - 6pm.
