Hi guys. I'm the pen that the man using this blog is torturing with his bullet journal. Yes, he told you all about that and I'm most of the time incarcerated in a pen holder. I would like to be a free pen but I'm not, like most of my fellow pen and all the pens in the world. Oh, I'm not the worse case because many pens are in the hand of pupils, who chew on them. I'm not kept in a pen case or a pouch. I'm just on the desk with a pencil and a gum, and sometimes he's putting other pens with me. The poor, they are kept in a drawer, in the dark most of the day. No, really, I'm a lucky pen because I'm good for something.
Look at your pens ! Where are they ? When are you using it ? You're always with your smartphone and laptop (OK, the smartphone told me about this blog...). You're not writing anymore with your hand. I don't want to know what you are doing with your hands. I can't use an hydro-alcoholic solution to clean myself all the time. Of course, SARS-CoV2 will not contaminate me. Young people don't want to use me anymore, except in the class rooms, but for how long ? Some are drawing with us. Oh, I'm a drawing pen too, coming from Japan and made of plastic, metal and...ink naturally. I'm good to write, good to draw and I'm not a ball-point pen, or something like that. I'm not a luxury pen too, like the Mont-blanc or those aristocratic pen. They don't even want to speak with us, perched on snow-capped peaks or in their owners' pockets. I'm an old fashioned pen but I heard that I'm coming back in fashion in some circles. My man is not in the right circle but I've got many brothers and sisters at his home. He tries to keep his skill to draw and write.
I've got a cousin who is working at a notary's office. It's boring, all the day doing initials and signatures in the hand of people who don't know what they do, and sometimes don't know how to write. I heard someone saying that knowing how to write could become rarer than knowing how to type. I don't understand... It's not easy to type on a keyboard with all those letters put in a mess. It's so easy to use me between your fingers. It's so fun to draw letters, to make variants, depending of your gift, your mood, your feelings, your skill. Everyone has a different way to write and a different handwriting. Don't tell me it's the same with fonts on a keyboard : You're all using the same. There are millions of handwriting styles but not dozens of mainstream fonts. And if you consider that a pen is not only for writing but also for drawing, We have The Power !
I'm a lucky pen because I write, I draw, I paint, I sign, … And I've got many friends around. My «owner» is using me to write draft and notes everywhere on draft sheets of paper. It seems to be complicated in his head, ha ha. I'm lucky because he seems to «love» me, not trying to buy a more expensive and more glamour pen. I'm keeping an ey on what he does. Of course, he's writing notes when he's looking for something. He's always comparing things… I could testify at his trial. No, he's a good guy. He won't go in jail...And it seems to be difficult to make me tell something to an attorney or to the police. It's more easy with my neighbor, the smartphone. They could make me bleed...lose my ink, to kill me, I could not write without the help of a human hand. I'm useless without humans and you can draw us fighting censorship but we are nothing against your own stupidity. If some pens are writing nonsense or insulting texts, that's not their fault but your fault. Our only power is to stop writing with no ink at the bottom, on the paper. Your reaction ? To throw us in the bin. You're are not even thinking to all the good moments we had together. You have more feelings about your car, about your preferred shirt, despite the fact that we have spent more time together than these objects. I'm not asking a burial but, at least, a little thought and a decent death.
I would like to thank my secret friend who has listened to me and who has helped me to write this post. There are other objects of your daily life who want to speak, now.
