Around 2021, I used to have an obsession with free browsers; I used to insist on using ungoogled-chromium and Firefox only for about all of that year, and using lynx if all I was doing was reading a text document. In theory, it would keep me focused since there's less to do, but in practice I would just fuck around on Gopher for half an hour or so beforeactually starting any work. I wanted to use Pale Moon as well, but for some fucking reason it would never compile properly on my computer(damn this Macbook, all that RAM and nothing I can do with it) so I had to be content with just using Firefox with a custom user.js. There's really nothing left to say on this topic.
In the world of "Small Web" protocols, as you can guess, freedom is usually the norm. So I just choose whatever I like to use. I use amfora to quickly troubleshoot my site while editing and Lagrange for extended browsing. I didn't even know Lagrange could access Gopher when I downloaded it, but it works quite well for that too. The only time I ever have to use Lynx at this point is for accessing Usenet.
After I got done with testing every browser I could throughout that whole year, my next time-waster was to put all my time into IRC. I used to be an irssi purist, but as I started visiting more servers Weechat became more convenient for all the log-ins. If anyone knows of any other browsers for protocols they like, feel free to tell me via my XMPP.
