It is common sense that the ears collect sounds, and with the sounds sometimes information. Unbeknownst to most is the fact that some people make use of their ears to communicate, though visibly, still secretly with one another.
The actual process is done by wiggling. Some have achieved a level of perfection - they can move both ears completely independently and at will, others can only wiggle both at once, while some poor souls achieve only movements of their entire scalp.
What information is actually transfered?
That of course depends totally on the context. For my part I start wiggling when I get bored or I want to get the attention of an interesting person. The first often happens during some orchestra rehearsals. I'd then lock eyes with my other wiggle partner. A short wiggle would then acknowledge the fact that we both find this particular moment really boring. At least that's what I mean. I don't know what the other person reads off me. But this is a general problem with human communication anyway. The latter often happens when I see someone interesting and want to break ice by not openly smiling to her (mostly it is with she/ hers), but to lock eyes again and do the unexpected wiggle. It works most of the time.
In the lives of some animals the ear moving is clearly defined. Think of horses, cats, dogs and others. You can read what to expect from them off their ears, I guess.
