Does anyone know of a tool, or capsule, that aggregates all of Gemspace by size. i.e. how BIG is Gemspace, in terms of the amount of data hosted on it? I think it would be really cool to plot it's data footprint over time.

could always write a Morris worm equivalent for Gemini.... I mean, its original purpose was to gauge the size of the internet, right? ;D ยท 1 week ago
Currently, my search engine has calculated about 62 GB from Geminispace, although note that it excludes all files over 200 MiB. See here: gemini://auragem.letz.dev/search/stats/ ยท 1 week ago

You could estimate a lower bound using Stephane Bortzmeyer's statistics. For example, as of 2024-05-13, Lupa reports that 519377 URIs return successfully, and the average size of a resource is 59370 bytes, giving a lower bound of about 28 GB. Of course this is a massive undershoot, since Lupa doesn't index everything: my capsule alone has almost a gigabyte of static data. I'd be interested in seeing statistics from Kennedy or similar sources. ยท 1 week ago
