About a year ago, I moved with my family, away from San Antonio, Texas to the Ozark mountains. We had moved to Texas 4 years before when I was offered a job there. My wife wanted to move to a rural location, but I wanted to be in the suburbs near work. So we built a big house in the burbs. Three months after the house was built, everyone was sent home to work because of covid fear.
During the three years I worked at home, prices skyrocketed on everything including taxes on my new home. In fact from the time it was built to when we left the taxes went up $800/month - yes per month.
So at the beginning of 2023 we sold our house and moved to the Ozarks to get away the city and start a homestead. I was able to continue working at the same job which I am thankful for.
And so begins a new chapter of our lives. One where we strive to be more independant and self suffucient.
