[2021-06-05T00:12:52Z] On my windows machine, firefox secretly updated to 89.0 [2021-06-05T00:13:05Z] Now everything has round corners. I think the update is not worth it [2021-06-05T00:28:29Z] embrace the nuegia browser [2021-06-05T00:30:23Z] Thats what I am thinking [2021-06-05T00:30:50Z] holy shit, I just found my first TIFF on the web [2021-06-05T00:31:09Z] of all places, it's in an old public icon repo at w3.org [2021-06-05T00:31:18Z] that's amazing [2021-06-05T00:32:39Z] https://www.w3.org/Icons/ [2021-06-05T00:36:01Z] I forced myself to use links2 in graphics mode since a couple of days and still like it. Its often pretty useable. [2021-06-05T00:36:09Z] links is fantastic [2021-06-05T00:36:13Z] it's my daily driver [2021-06-05T00:36:40Z] if you want, I have a patch in my repo to add suckless tabbed support. [2021-06-05T00:37:03Z] Yeah, I would safe it for later. [2021-06-05T00:37:20Z] cool stuff [2021-06-05T00:37:23Z] But I use dwm with awesomebar patch which is basically tabbed interface. [2021-06-05T00:39:32Z] neat. [2021-06-05T00:59:10Z] so, TIL that my website is just about ISO HTML compliant. [2021-06-05T00:59:19Z] very cool. [2021-06-05T00:59:27Z] im contemplating switching from eudev to mdev. is it a trivial process? i noticed it got a little easier anyway with libudev-zero by illiliti. seeing as you can just kiss a it, and eudev is no longer a dep for libinput and xorg-server [2021-06-05T00:59:38Z] i also stumpled upon this https://github.com/slashbeast/mdev-like-a-boss [2021-06-05T00:59:46Z] which make it seem rather trivial tbh [2021-06-05T00:59:46Z] i've had trouble with libudev and mdev on my laptop [2021-06-05T00:59:49Z] but it's also an obscure model [2021-06-05T01:00:37Z] hm. iirc, you have to add these configs for xorg. would something like this suffice? [2021-06-05T01:00:39Z] https://github.com/slashbeast/mdev-like-a-boss/blob/master/xorg.conf.d/10-keyboard.conf [2021-06-05T01:00:49Z] oh, it wasn't for the keyboard or anything [2021-06-05T01:00:52Z] that worked ootb [2021-06-05T01:00:55Z] even without mdev [2021-06-05T01:00:59Z] aah [2021-06-05T01:01:03Z] it's my touchpad that's having trouble. apparently it's detected as a tablet [2021-06-05T01:01:15Z] which is Good Programming:tm: [2021-06-05T01:01:41Z] aah. my touchpad isnt really working anyway. havent been bothered to make it work on kiss tbh. using a mouse anyway. soo no biggie then? [2021-06-05T01:01:50Z] it shouldn't be, for you [2021-06-05T01:01:55Z] but as always ymmv [2021-06-05T01:02:01Z] ymmv? [2021-06-05T01:02:15Z] your mileage may vary [2021-06-05T01:02:27Z] aah. yeah [2021-06-05T01:04:43Z] ISO-compliance achieved. fucking based. [2021-06-05T01:04:47Z] HTML5lets btfo [2021-06-05T01:14:37Z] The author of badwolf is writing a wlroots compositor. https://hacktivis.me/git/inaban/file/README.md.html [2021-06-05T01:16:25Z] that's neat, ig [2021-06-05T01:16:37Z] i tried using badwolf for a while. wasn't the biggest fan of it [2021-06-05T01:32:37Z] I must say. it just worked. Im impressed tbh. I was actually expecting it to not work at all. i mean not having any keyboar working, mouse not working. but.. it just works :D [2021-06-05T01:46:35Z] libudev-zero is basically a drop-in replacement for eudev if you're already using mdev [2021-06-05T01:46:41Z] the real work comes in when you stop using mdev [2021-06-05T01:47:04Z] I figured, but yeah, it also stated such on the github page. [2021-06-05T01:47:41Z] yeah, I figured that at that point it would be more work. only complaint is the sound is abit low tbh. and if I raise it, it starts to crackle [2021-06-05T01:47:52Z] that's odd [2021-06-05T01:48:36Z] yeah, it didnt do so before I switched, and thats basiclly all I did between earlier when playing a video, and now. [2021-06-05T01:50:47Z] yeah its defitivly lower than before. [2021-06-05T01:54:29Z] seems like rebuilding alsa-utils/libs worked :D probably a bug or something [2021-06-05T01:59:05Z] oh wow. firefox pretty. i switch to firefox. [2021-06-05T01:59:26Z] ^ apparent this is mozilla's target demographic now [2021-06-05T01:59:42Z] I don't know anyone who actually likes their newer designs. [2021-06-05T02:00:00Z] yeah, like instead of making it look pretty, make it work pretty [2021-06-05T02:00:21Z] that requires more effort [2021-06-05T02:00:28Z] better to throw a new coat of paint on it to impress the normies [2021-06-05T02:14:11Z] CGI is so nifty. [2021-06-05T02:22:25Z] what are you using it for? [2021-06-05T02:24:12Z] right now I just have a sample perl script that prints out environment details on my server [2021-06-05T02:24:27Z] but eventually I'd like to use it to generate ISO HTML-compliant image galleries [2021-06-05T02:25:33Z] since there's a couple Scheme interpreters on SDF, I'll likely write it in that. [2021-06-05T02:27:42Z] id just write a program that generates a static html page whenever a new image is added [2021-06-05T02:28:26Z] that's basically what I want to do [2021-06-05T02:28:33Z] but using CGI for it is an excuse to tinker with new toys [2021-06-05T02:28:52Z] ah, fair [2021-06-05T02:29:01Z] i'll be able to add sorts and stuff, too, with CGI [2021-06-05T02:29:14Z] since I want to add some IRL photos, eventually [2021-06-05T02:29:53Z] seems cool [2021-06-05T02:30:07Z] anyway, yeah. http://midfavila.chaosnet.org/cgi-bin/hwo.cgi [2021-06-05T02:30:11Z] this is the power of LISP!!! [2021-06-05T02:32:14Z] chicken is a cool dialect. it's got a transpiler and interpreter, and a surprising number of libraries [2021-06-05T02:36:04Z] it also manages to be faster than guile or racket [2021-06-05T02:36:10Z] but I guess that's not a very high bar [2021-06-05T02:40:11Z] testuser[m]_ [2021-06-05T02:40:29Z] You use proton in steam? [2021-06-05T03:08:12Z] apparently you can disable the "proton" ui for the time being. In the meantime, I'll just stick with FF 88 for a bit longer [2021-06-05T03:26:29Z] I like it more than the previous one, with a little user chrome styling [2021-06-05T03:38:31Z] phew, site remodelling is done [2021-06-05T03:38:37Z] everything is ISO HTML compliant now [2021-06-05T03:39:02Z] gotta clean up the markup soon, since it's crufty, but it's perfectly valid, so I'm content for tonight [2021-06-05T04:18:13Z] ...oh, dude..! I should totally write a guestbook program! [2021-06-05T04:31:46Z] hi [2021-06-05T04:31:52Z] ih [2021-06-05T04:38:43Z] well, it's almost 2AM for me. [2021-06-05T04:38:46Z] i'm out. [2021-06-05T04:38:49Z] see you guys later. [2021-06-05T04:55:43Z] whats a portable alternative for grep -o ? [2021-06-05T09:40:03Z] dilyn: Lol it works just fine after export C{XX}FLAGS="$C{XX}FLAGS -I/usr/inclu [2021-06-05T09:40:03Z] de/c++/11.1.0/$(cc -dumpmachine)" [2021-06-05T09:40:09Z] also I/usr/include/c [2021-06-05T09:40:10Z] ++/11.1.0 [2021-06-05T09:45:21Z] there is def a deeper problem tho [2021-06-05T10:45:47Z] testuser[m]_: sed -n 's/.*\(bar\).*/\1/p' [2021-06-05T10:46:07Z] a grep -o [2021-06-05T10:46:58Z] thanks [2021-06-05T10:52:40Z] awk 'match($0, /bar/) { print substr($0, RSTART, RLENGTH) }' [2021-06-05T10:53:01Z] awk might be slightly faster [2021-06-05T11:06:42Z] can anyone help me with this, been having this issue for a few days now [2021-06-05T11:10:10Z] Everytime I reboot my laptop the date/time resets to 2017 [2021-06-05T11:10:29Z] Had this issue before but I forgot how I fixed it last time [2021-06-05T12:06:48Z] Tips for compiling LLVM Clang quicker [2021-06-05T12:06:49Z] ? [2021-06-05T12:33:04Z] use faster computer [2021-06-05T12:58:40Z] testuser[m]: you can use ask for that [2021-06-05T12:59:04Z] oops ang already said that, wasn't scrolled down enough [2021-06-05T13:01:18Z] 2fast4u [2021-06-05T13:01:46Z] damn timezones [2021-06-05T13:08:59Z] let's remove timezones, ez [2021-06-05T13:09:01Z] Test [2021-06-05T13:09:04Z] FINALLY [2021-06-05T13:09:11Z] back on matrix? [2021-06-05T13:09:29Z] My old homeserver was cursed for a few weeks [2021-06-05T13:09:39Z] So i just decided to run stable synapse now [2021-06-05T13:10:01Z] Purged the old one [2021-06-05T13:10:03Z] I see [2021-06-05T13:11:25Z] do you use matrix besides the irc bridge? [2021-06-05T13:12:02Z] I use matrix for mainly shitcord and this irc channel [2021-06-05T13:12:12Z] And 1-2 native matrix channels [2021-06-05T13:12:18Z] fair [2021-06-05T13:12:39Z] wait, there is a discord bridge of some sort? [2021-06-05T13:12:51Z] There's a few [2021-06-05T13:12:58Z] I wrote my own cuz others were in nodejs [2021-06-05T13:13:05Z] that's interesting [2021-06-05T13:15:07Z] I was bothered with nodejs cuz this irc bridge hosted by matrix.org is reliable but at that time, their discord bridge didn't really work, took ages to send messages [2021-06-05T13:15:15Z] Idk if itst still the case [2021-06-05T13:15:44Z] So i wasn't gonna run nodejs on my self hosted server [2021-06-05T13:17:26Z] what's yours written in? [2021-06-05T13:19:37Z] Python [2021-06-05T13:20:02Z] I don't mind it cuz i have like 2 dependencies [2021-06-05T13:21:01Z] only mildly better [2021-06-05T13:21:25Z] I wouldn't mind tho, I have python anyway and can't really get rid of it :( [2021-06-05T13:21:58Z] Yeah you need python anyway [2021-06-05T13:22:52Z] What lang would you prefer such a bot in [2021-06-05T13:24:22Z] no idea what's feasible to be honest [2021-06-05T13:25:00Z] Can you do networking with awk ? :p [2021-06-05T13:25:06Z] haha [2021-06-05T13:25:14Z] with gawk you can [2021-06-05T13:25:36Z] just like bash, it has /dev/tcp pseudo device [2021-06-05T13:26:36Z] Hmm [2021-06-05T13:26:44Z] need to go grocery shopping [2021-06-05T13:26:46Z] bbl [2021-06-05T13:37:29Z] acheam: btw checkout clang sanitizers as an alternative to valgrind, since you've been playing with C recently [2021-06-05T14:18:24Z] testuser[m]1: will do, thanks! [2021-06-05T14:34:00Z] hii! [2021-06-05T15:17:35Z] installed udev ? [2021-06-05T15:17:43Z] you need to enable the eudev service too [2021-06-05T15:17:47Z] or mdev [2021-06-05T15:18:08Z] How do I enable eudev? [2021-06-05T15:19:18Z] ln -s /etc/sv/udevd /var/service/ [2021-06-05T15:26:01Z] The problem is persisting [2021-06-05T15:26:23Z] did you reboot [2021-06-05T15:26:38Z] Yes [2021-06-05T15:27:10Z] send dmesg and ~/.local/share/xorg/Xorg.* [2021-06-05T15:33:17Z] https://pastebin.com/raw/Z5TD5GZ2 [2021-06-05T15:35:24Z] I created the pastebin from a livecd, but how do I get the dmesg? [2021-06-05T15:37:52Z] you get dmesg from booting into the kernel [2021-06-05T15:37:55Z] just dont launch xorg [2021-06-05T19:08:47Z] I have a chroot, and tried to install toybox. Since toybox requires bash, i built in my host env and installed with PREFIX=/mnt/bin/ make install_flat. Something weird happened because now I can not run any commands in my chroot, they come up with command not found. But the file is in my /bin/. The toybox binary that it is linked to is also in my [2021-06-05T19:08:48Z] /bin. I can even run the commands from my host envoirment with /mnt/bin/toybox or /mnt/bin/ls. [2021-06-05T19:19:46Z] maybe the symlinks are absolute paths instead of relative paths
