It’s not actually possible to leave Heathrow airport by foot, you have to take a bus at least part of the way. I reach GROW and walk in and only realise later that the main gate does not usually just stay open. The first person I see is happy to show me around anyway. There’s fresh straw on the ground because one resident forgot a fire and burned down some of the structures, so they made use of what was left after. "Are you staying?" Anyone can come and and live in one of the huts or tents for a little, then it’s up for a vote. The population is a mix between those who find the home they need in GROW and those who just like the activism. "Do you have a job?" I feel like my answer is not convincing. On my way out I come across some people carrying pallets and offer to help. A little kid joins in, too. Someone calls me out for rushing rather than taking it easy. "We do things slow here." I leave with a little potted plant.
