I just came up with an idea for a Gemini browser. I saw somebody work on a client where they converte gemtext to HTML, for example converting => to <a> tags. What if we went further and we grabbed any image links and made them <img> tags, and have the browser have a random Neocities-like background. We could have a browser that makes Gemini look like Web 1.0! I would love this, what would you guys think?

@cobradile94 I remember that era quite well and think you are right in the sweet spot there. Pages could have a slick design using frames. It was important to standardize but CSS ended up making everything look 'the same'. It also raised the bar of entry, making writing your own pages less approachable. 路 1 year ago

Question though: Post CSS or Pre CSS or Pre everything is a <frame> era 路 1 year ago

I feel like there is room for something like that. Gemini fills the spectrum close to gopher nicely. We are missing something to fill in the area between gemini and http/html. No javascript evil, but underconstruction gifs for all? 路 1 year ago
