Checking the non-local news is a habit that's very difficult to break. I try my best to only read the news for my country of residency plus the tech news, as these are all that really matter to me day-to-day.

However, it's really difficult not to just click a link and see what's going on in the rest of the world, especially my country of origin. But anytime that I fall into that trap it's just upsetting and there's really nothing that I can do about any of it, so there's no point reading it.

My country has a habit of just copying whatever the US is doing, so I try to keep an eye on US politics for that reason. Beyond that I stick to the local newspaper. ยท 9 months ago

i subscribed to a newsletter called minimalist news recently. brings some gpt filtered relevant stuff to my inbox without the sensationalistic wording because it is rephrased by a large language model. not entirely trustworthy yet feels healthier than checking my goto place financial times. non local news are mostly irrelevant i figured. ยท 9 months ago
