This is tangential, but I've done some experiments with Gopher and IPFS
before that you may find interesting:

IPFS is content addressed and peer-to-peer via a distributed hash
table. ipfs-gopher will run a local gopher server that parses a special
menu format that can be pinned to the IPFS network, exposing a
Gopher-compatible way to browse them and other documents on IPFS.
