Derry man who threatened to kill parents jailed for six months

Rory Mooney, 21 Mar

A man who 'behaved appallingly' towards his parents and threatened to

kill them has been jailed at Derry Magistrate's Court today.

Daniel McClintock (27) of Benvarden Avenue in Derry admitted a series

of offences that occurred on February 16 this year.

The court heard that police were called to a report that McClintock

'had become angry' and caused damage to the house valued at £400.

He threw a picture at his mother striking her on the head and

threatened his parents.

When police tried to talk to him he assaulted an officer and was

arrested.

Defence solicitor Seamus Quigley said that his client accepted that he

had behaved badly towards his parents but that they were willing to

take him back.

He said that McClintock was on medication at the time of the offending

but had not been taking it.

McClintock was jailed for six months.
