The Melting Apartment

Gameboy Color

I actually finished this one in November or December of last year but didn't think to write it up. It's an indie game which you can find on on itch:

The Melting Apartment by flower studio

This one was really neat! It's super short, and atmospheric, a tad bit creepy, and it has three different endings to find.

It was developed on GB Studio, so it's a really cool little showcase of what a non-platformer and not-Zelda type game can look like. I find GB Studio games always have a certain feel, much like RPG Maker games always have a certain feel, and The Melting Apartment is no exception, but that's not a bad thing when the dev crafts a great experience. I'd highly recommend it. It's the exact kind of creepy/horror that I can manage, for about the duration that I can manage it (I'm a bit of a weenie).

Going forward, I intend to write about the homebrew games I play too. I've been queuing up a bunch to play on both PICO-8 and Gameboy, as well as a couple on the NES too!

I'm also unsure where my delineation between "homebrew" and "indie" is, as, for example, Blossom Tales from a previous post is an indie game.

I'll also be linking to homebrew and indie games I talk about going forward, especially when they're only available on like itch.io or something, because most of them deserve more attention than they get.
