Directory hardware compatibility for modern retrocomputing.

This will be an ever-growing list of old hardware that could be used for modern retrocomputing.

If you are looking for a specific piece of hardware but wondering if it will work for your purposes, please check this list, it might help you clear your doubts.

Also, if you would like to collaborate, please send me any information about hardware that could be usefull.

Please note that I have most experience mostly with Japanese vintage computers only, and very limited with western ones.

Also, I don't know if these items can be obtained easily or at all outside Japan, so please investigate that by yourself.

CPU Accelerators

I tested them with the CPUs described below. Might be compatible with others.

15KHz / 24KHz / 31KHz LCD Monitors

Non-NEC Keyboards for PC-98

There are actually not many, but the few that exist are usually excellent mechanical keyboards.

If you ever find one from the list below, do not hesitate to acquire. So far I only own one of these, but I am aware of at least two more brands/models, but unfortunately I couldn't test them, so I don't know if they are mechanical or membrane.

Power Supply Replacement

Modern switching power supplies that output 5v and 12v in a tiny form factor.

Useful for replacing old internal vintage PSUs or create your own external one.

Video Converters

Cheap options if you don't want to buy a Framemeister, OSSC or similars.

Expansion Units and Boards

List of uncommon internal or external boards or accessories to expand the capabilities or functionalities of a computer.
