(Finally) Learning French

Hello, this is yet another status update and a historical entry for my future self. I've been enjoying some days off from university thanks to a national holiday and I've decided that it is about time I started learning French. Learning how to speak and write French had always been on my milestone list and I'm more than confident that I will indeed manage to improve my vocabulary during the incoming Christmas break. On a different note, I just finished reading Carl Sagan's "Contact" which will probably end up being the last novel I invested my time in before the arrival of 2024. I will be now focusing on learning French instead. In fact I've already read about a dozen articles from Vikidia, a Wikipedia-like encyclopedia adapted to young French natives, which is coincidentally a perfect fit for my own studying journey.

This marks my third (and hopefully definitive) official attempt at tackling French. My last two attempts were all in vain largely because I couldn't understand the English translations of French nouns either! After about six months of reading literature and about three thousand noted words later, I'm quiet more confident that I won't get discouraged again (even though I'm still nowhere near to being a fluent English speaker just yet). I must essentially be able to speak colloquial French before the year 2028, the year of my mandatory enlistment in the Greek army (on the application of which I had stated that I'm fluent in French in order to challenge my future self). I should also state that I've got absolutely no aspirations to learn or master a forth language during the course of my remaining lifetime.
