How did you get into Gemini? Me, I stumbled upon the cheapskatesguide site for an unrelated reason and found his review of Gemini (https://cheapskatesguide.org/articles/gemini.html).

someone posted about it on lemmy.ml, a reddit alternative. I found Lemmy via the privacytools.io website / mastodon server before the drama there. found privacytools.io as a source on a random tech article about privacy. and here I am. · 8 months ago
I found out about Gemini after diving back into Gopher! It must have been mid-to-late 2021? Something like that, yeah. · 8 months ago
Mine was quite a long chain, which I noted down in a gemlog post for posterity! gemini://elektito.com/gemlog/2-hello-there-proper · 8 months ago

I heard about it from the yesterweb probably a couple months ago, but it kind of just floated around in the back of my mind until I started getting sick of web bloat and decided I should check it out. Been exploring Gopher as well and quite enjoying the uncluttered experience. · 8 months ago

2020 was boring. Probably saw something about it on lobste.rs. · 8 months ago
Same as @jo. A friend of mine mentioned their Yestercities Gemini hosting, and after reading through some of the chats on the old Discord, I decided I'd rebuild my online presence on there. I've since migrated to tilde.pink but still, I have no clue where else I would have even heard of Gemini if not for them. · 8 months ago
I think I originally read something on HN and had a browse. Immediately loved Lagrange by @skyjake and then started pondering whether people would shoot me if I made a Twitter-esque “app” for the network. I figured “no – hopefully people will see that to help more folks use Gemini, it’s useful to have a super easy way to have conversations without running a server”… and so here we are. · 8 months ago
