26 My Bloggers are leaving

...And I'm not speaking of the Gemini blogs and capsules. It's not new but some of the bloggers that I loved to read, just stopped. Ok, I have done quite the same on the french part of my blog, because I thought I had nothing more to say and needed a new challenge. I hope this one here is good. But when you see more and more sites that you read for years just without news, it's like a small part of your life that is leaving. It's not a question of life and death, of course but it's like every habits that is ending.

After years of readings, it seem that you know something of the person that you are reading. When you are writing, you are including a small part of You in what you produce, you write. It's often something unconscious, that you hide behind artifice. You, my reader, you probably think that I'm a certain kind of person. It's probably far from the reality, but you have some elements of me that I couldn't imagine. Iceman is an avatar of the real me, and the bloggers that I read were some avatars of themselves. Some told many things of their real life, some others did not. I have «talked» with many of them and sometimes they saw me as I saw them. Is it enough to know someone ? Of course not and I don't want more than the pleasure of my imagination when I read (just what I told in a precedent post). I imagine a face, a voice, sometimes a room or a house and that's all. They are/were like a good companion for a minute, an hour....it depends.

That's life... I did so many versions of my blog. I took some breaks and started again. I had bad moments without the desire to write a single thing, and some bad moments when writing was a therapy. Reading is sometimes a good therapy too... a book, a blog, whatever it is, it's the power of the words that fascinates me. It's perhaps a coincidence that some bloggers ended. In the same time, I saw new blogs, maybe for a single post. So nothing is lost in this way of expressing yourself. Blog was a fashion many many years ago and I didn't even try to create one. I was not ready to do what I do today. But I had written some posts and articles on several sites. Now, some bloggers prefers to «speak» on social netwoks, micro blogging websites, or review sites. Ok for that but what made create a blog is the fact that I'm «at home», like the last title of my french blog said.

I remember that when Blogging was the buzz, many had said that it was the end of journalism. I have tried in my way to be a kind of journalist (I was officially a journalist in a webzine for 2 years), but in the end, it's not the way I like in blogs. I love the «slice of life» that many blogs offers. I love the blogs with creation like I have loved to see pictures from semi-pro photographers in Flickr and other sites like that. I love comics blogs but most of them have migrated to that awful Instagram. When I remember how many blogs I read 10 years before and what I'm reading now, it's so different. A very few part of them have became professional websites with some compromises on ads and sponsors. It have never been my way of being and that was one of the reasons that made me leave the webzine. Now blogging is a matter of generation. My generation of 35-50 years old people liked blogs but changed a lot. I saw a generation of videobloggers of podcast-bloggers. As I think everything is starting again periodically, I think that blogging will start again. Gemlogs were just a ripple on the water...
