french (part 2)

I met a Haitian/New Yorker today who is studying at my college to learn about the restaurant business. She spoke French and had lived in France, so we chatted about that, both in French and in English. This is something I miss about living in Canada: there were way more opportunities to speak French there.

Not that I haven't tried in New York. I've gone to French meetups, which are both fun and socially exhausting. It is hard to muster the energy for that after work. I thought I would just fall into a French speaking community when I got here, but I've been here for a long time now, and that hasn't happened.

I'm not sure what the right solution is to my lack of French speakers; maybe I will find some soon, perhaps?
