To organize my digital files, I have found the Johnny Decimal system most helpful.
To name a document, I usually do the following:
- date_title_owner_version
Let’s say I have a photo of a park I visited on April 1st, 2099 (maybe I am from the future), and I made 3 versions of this photo (001, 002, and 003). The first version of this photo would be identified like so:
990401_park_laure_001
For emails, I utilize a mail client (safer and better organized than webmail) and, whenever possible, I encrypt the messages with PGP.
I don't use social media websites much. I limit myself to youtube/peertube, occasionally checking instructive videos to learn how to do a particular thing (i.e. gardening, cooking, etc). Apart from that, sometimes I might check a song or lecture. I don't use social media for communication with people (I don’t have accounts on any of those platforms). My intent with that is to be focused, and limit my use of technology, so I can have more time for other things. It's a work in progress (much to be improved).
For video consumption, I access them using newsboat + youtube-dl + mpv.
